Lawyer for driving under the influence of alcohol in Brussels
Driving under the influence of alcohol is one of the most common offences for the police court in Brussels. The consequences could be far-reaching: a driving ban, a fine multiplied by 8, and mandatory driving licence retests. Novex Advocaten, Traffic law lawyer Brussels, defends you in all Belgian police courts.
Alcohol limit and measurement
Possible penalties for alcohol intoxication
The police court may impose:
- Driving ban from a minimum of 8 days to several years
- Geldboete van 200 tot 2.000 euro, te vermenigvuldigen met de opdeciemen (x8), dus 1.600 tot 16.000 euro
- Mandatory reinstatement examinations (theoretical, practical, medical or psychological)
- Alcohol interlock as alternative to longer driving ban for high concentrations
- For recidivism: harsher penalties and possible detention
The alcohol interlock as an alternative
With an alcohol concentration of 1.2 promille or more, the judge may impose driving with an alcohol interlock. This allows you to drive, but only with a vehicle equipped with an alcohol interlock that locks the engine when alcohol is consumed.
