This cookie policy explains which cookies the website novexadvocaten.be uses, what they are for and how you can manage them. The website is operated by Mr Mohamed Asfour, a lawyer (advocaat / avocat) at the Brussels Bar, trading as Novex Advocaten, Avenue Louise/Louizalaan 379, 1050 Brussels (enterprise and VAT number BE 0793.995.973).
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your computer, tablet or smartphone via your browser. On a later visit, the website can read those files again, for example to remember the language you chose. The same rules apply to similar techniques that store or read information on your device.
First-party cookies are placed by the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies are placed by another party, such as an external service built into the website.
Which cookies does this website use?
This website itself only uses cookies that are needed for it to work. Google cookies are only placed if you choose to open the Google Maps map. The overview below describes the types of cookies. You can check the exact name and expiry date of each cookie at any time in your browser settings.
| Type | Purpose | Placed by | Consent required? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary cookies | Security and operation of the website’s administration, including recognising logged-in administrators | This website (first-party cookies) | No |
| Functional cookies | Remembering technical settings, such as the language version you chose, and displaying pages quickly and correctly (caching) | This website (first-party cookies) | No, because they are strictly necessary for the service you request |
| Google Maps cookies | Displaying the interactive map on the contact page | Google (third party) | Yes: they are only placed after you click “Show map” |
No analytics, tracking or advertising cookies
This website does not use analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, or any advertising or tracking technology. As a result, no browsing profiles are built through this website and no data are passed on to advertisers.
Google Maps on the contact page
On the contact page, you can view the location of the office on a Google Maps map. The map does not load automatically. As long as you do not click “Show map”, the map is not requested from Google and Google does not place any cookies through this website.
If you click “Show map”, the map is loaded directly from Google’s servers. Google then receives technical data, such as your IP address, and may place or read its own cookies. By clicking, you consent to this.
Google itself is responsible for any further processing of those data. How Google uses those data, and whether they are processed outside the European Economic Area, is explained in Google’s privacy policy.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting Google’s cookies in your browser settings and not opening the map again. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of anything that took place before it. The office’s contact details remain available without the map.
Legal basis
The Belgian rules on cookies (Article 10/2 of the Act of 30 July 2018 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data), which transpose the European ePrivacy Directive (Directive 2002/58/EC), require your prior consent before cookies are placed or read. This does not apply to cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you have explicitly requested. This website’s own cookies fall under that exemption. The Google Maps cookies, by contrast, do require your consent, which you give by clicking “Show map”.
Insofar as personal data are processed through cookies, this is based, for first-party cookies, on the legitimate interest in a secure and properly functioning website (Article 6.1(f) GDPR) and, for Google Maps, on your consent (Article 6.1(a) GDPR). The GDPR is the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679).
Managing cookies in your browser
In your browser settings, you can view, delete or block cookies. You can also choose to be notified whenever a cookie is placed. How this works varies from browser to browser: please consult your browser’s help function. If you also block strictly necessary or functional cookies, some parts of the website may not work, or may not work as well.
Your rights and questions
Which personal data are processed and what rights you have, such as the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability, is explained in the privacy statement. General information on the use of this website can be found in the disclaimer.
If you have any questions about this cookie policy, please contact Mr Mohamed Asfour at asfour@novexadvocaten.be or on 0484 99 22 72. If you disagree with the way your data are processed, you can lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données) in Brussels.
Changes to this cookie policy
This cookie policy is updated whenever the website, the cookies used or the regulations change. Should cookies requiring consent ever be introduced, that consent will be requested in advance. The date of the most recent change is shown below.
