Child support money is one of the most contested issues in divorce. Novex Lawyers explains how it is calculated and how to best defend your interests.
The LSEP method
In Belgium, child support is calculated using the Lump Sum Equivalent Payment (LSEP) method. This takes into account the income of both parents, the residence arrangement and the needs of the child.
Extraordinary expenses
In addition to the monthly maintenance fee, there are extraordinary expenses: medical expenses, school expenses, sports activities, etc. These are normally shared in proportion to the income of both parents. Novex Lawyers takes care of a correct arrangement.
