Are you driving in Belgium with a licence issued in another country? Then there are specific rules that determine whether your licence is valid and how long you can drive with it. Novex Advocaten explains.
EU driving licence in Belgium
A driving licence issued by an EU member state is in principle valid in all EU countries, including Belgium. However, if you establish your residence in Belgium, you will need to exchange your driving licence for a Belgian one after some time.
Non-EU driving licence in Belgium
A non-EU driving licence is valid in Belgium for up to 1 year after you settle in Belgium. After that, you must apply for a Belgian driving licence. Driving without a valid driving licence is punishable by law.
