Are you driving in Belgium with a license issued in another country? Then there are specific rules that determine whether your license is valid and how long you can drive with it. Novex Advocaten explains.
EU driving license in Belgium
A driving license issued by an EU member state is in principle valid in all EU countries, including Belgium. However, if you establish your residence in Belgium, you will need to exchange your driving license for a Belgian one after some time.
Non-EU driving license in Belgium
A non-EU driving license is valid in Belgium for up to 1 year after you settle in Belgium. After that, you must apply for a Belgian driver's license. Driving without a valid driving license is punishable by law.
