What is the BAC limit in Belgium and what does it mean?

The BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) or blood alcohol content determines whether you can be criminally prosecuted for drunk driving. Novex Advocaten explains the Belgian limits.

The legal boundaries in Belgium

For regular drivers, less than 0.22 mg/l in exhaled air (or 0.5 promille in blood) is permissible. Between 0.22 and 0.35 mg/l is alcohol intoxication. More than 0.35 mg/l is intoxication. Stricter standards apply to professional drivers.

What changes with the new category of directors?

Stricter standards apply to novice drivers (license less than 2 years) and professional drivers - the limit is lower. An attorney takes these nuances into account in the defense.
